BONO features on a uniquely designed egg, which will be part of a special Easter egg hunt planned for Dublin next month.
Created by artist Niall O'Loughlin, the oval-shaped likeness is one of hundred eggs designed by leading artists and celebrities, including Joe Duffy, restaurateur and 'MasterChef' judge Nick Munier, and gardener Diarmuid Gavin.
Hatched in London last year to raise money for charity, the Giant Egg Hunt has now spread to Dublin as a fundraiser for the Jack & Jill Foundation.
Running from February 12 (Pancake Tuesday) to March 15, the eggs will be split 50/50 between locations on the northside and southside of the capital.
Those taking part in the egg hunt will be given a book containing pictures of the eggs, as well as clues and maps to find them across Dublin.
Each egg will have a unique number which those on the egg hunt will feed into a mobile phone app, and after discovering 20 egg numbers they can enter for a grand prize.
These include diamond pendant earrings for mum, a chocolate factory visit for kids and lots of chocolate goodies.
An online auction for the eggs will run during the period of the egg hunt, and will culminate in a black-tie ball at the Four Seasons Hotel, Dublin, on March 23 where the top 20 eggs will be sold.
However artist O'Loughlin, whose Bono egg comes complete with wrap-around shades, cigar and platform shoes, fears his will be kicked to bits on the streets of the capital, 'Humpty-Dumpty style' if located outside.
"This is a Bono without a bodyguard. I genuinely admire Bono but everybody wants a piece of him and there would be plenty to go around if this egg got smashed," he joked.
The Dunboyne-based artist (42) has spent the last month working on the egg.
He created the image of Bono using acrylic paint, modelling clay and artificial grass for hair.
