U2 in Argentina, The Movie

Mariano Nicotra, from Argentina to the world

Latinamerican fans of U2 will have their dream come true when the band plays in the South Cone: a  documentary movie about their visit.
The idea started when Argentinian Mariano Nicotra together with his friend Silvio Spadafora had the idea of making a documentary of the band´s coming to Argentina in March. At the end of 2010, they started a Facebook group  called "U2 en Argentina(La Pelìcula) (U2 in Argentina, the movie) calling all fans to collaborate in the project. To their surprise, thousands of fans from all over Latinamerica accepted their invitation. What had started as a personal dream has turned global.

"In all this time, lots of people were added to the project, so we proposed to make a "multicam", an experience that was already made in other parts of the world (Spain and Polland, for example). They are bootleg recordings that will be used without profit, of course. They will be shown in youtube or in fan websites," said Mariano Nicotra. "The idea is to film one of the three shows complete, with the cameras that fans take to the concerts, later edit it and include other subjects such as fans and collectors interviews, as part of the documentary."
"What we have discovered with the  different interviews is how the band and its music have influenced each of these people`s lives, and have helped them in difficult times..."

Mariano is surprised of the response of people from all over Latinamerica.

"What started as a film only for Argentinian fans, it will also have experiences from South American fans. People from Colombia, Venezuela and Brazil have told us their wish to participate of the documentary. A  group of Brazilian fans will follow the band in the seven concerts they will give in our continent."

When Mariano was asked if they were going to contact the band, he answered:

"We don`t expect to contact them directly in those days, but we`ll try once it`ll be finished. My dream was to work for them and I am doing  it. If I could hand the documentary to them, that would be the cherry on top of the cake!"
