Readers' Poll: The 10 Most Anticipated Albums of 2013

Rolling Stone magazine asked their readers to vote on their most anticipated album of 2013.These are the results:

We warned that it's very hard to look forward in the music business; albums tend to appear almost out of nowhere, and long-planned albums can get delayed for years.
With that said, we do know that many superstars (including U2BeyoncéArcade FireLady GagaEminem and Black Sabbath) are planning to put out new music sometime this year.

U2`s album is the most anticipated album of 2013.

1. U2 - Title Unknown

Most bands would see No Line on the Horizon as a hugely successful album. It sold millions of copies and the supporting tour was the single biggest tour of all time. But U2 aren't most bands. It didn't generate any real hit singles, and they saw the sales as highly disappointing. (In hindsight, "Get On Your Boots" shouldn't have been the first single.) The fact it hit right around the time Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark was going through just about the worst press beating in Broadway history didn't help matters. Even in the midst of a sold-out stadium tour, U2 seemed like they were in free-fall. In the past, U2 have responded to a "failure" by "dreaming it all up again." That meant the club-ready sounds of Achtung Baby after the rootsy Rattle and Hum, and it meant the back to basics approach of All That You Can't Leave Behind after the electronic sounds of Pop
This time around, it seems like their move is to dump their longtime producing team of Daniel Lanois, Brian Eno and Steve Lillywhite in favor of Brian "Danger Mouse" Burton. He helped the Black Keys score huge hits in a market that has very little interest in rock & roll, and U2 clearly hope he can use that same magic on them. U2 has been working feverishly on this material ever since the 360 tour ended in the summer of 2011, and not a single note has leaked out. Nobody knows what it sounds like. When asked about the project, Bono merely says, "U2's gotta do something very special to have a reason to exist right now." We're excited to hear what they come up with.

Rattle and Humpty: fans scramble for Bono egg

BONO features on a uniquely designed egg, which will be part of a special Easter egg hunt planned for Dublin next month.

Created by artist Niall O'Loughlin, the oval-shaped likeness is one of hundred eggs designed by leading artists and celebrities, including Joe Duffy, restaurateur and 'MasterChef' judge Nick Munier, and gardener Diarmuid Gavin.

Hatched in London last year to raise money for charity, the Giant Egg Hunt has now spread to Dublin as a fundraiser for the Jack & Jill Foundation.

Running from February 12 (Pancake Tuesday) to March 15, the eggs will be split 50/50 between locations on the northside and southside of the capital.

Those taking part in the egg hunt will be given a book containing pictures of the eggs, as well as clues and maps to find them across Dublin.

Each egg will have a unique number which those on the egg hunt will feed into a mobile phone app, and after discovering 20 egg numbers they can enter for a grand prize.

These include diamond pendant earrings for mum, a chocolate factory visit for kids and lots of chocolate goodies.

An online auction for the eggs will run during the period of the egg hunt, and will culminate in a black-tie ball at the Four Seasons Hotel, Dublin, on March 23 where the top 20 eggs will be sold.

However artist O'Loughlin, whose Bono egg comes complete with wrap-around shades, cigar and platform shoes, fears his will be kicked to bits on the streets of the capital, 'Humpty-Dumpty style' if located outside.

"This is a Bono without a bodyguard. I genuinely admire Bono but everybody wants a piece of him and there would be plenty to go around if this egg got smashed," he joked.

The Dunboyne-based artist (42) has spent the last month working on the egg.

He created the image of Bono using acrylic paint, modelling clay and artificial grass for hair.

Larry Mullen revealed that U2 are hoping to "have something released by September

In an interview with RTÉ 2fm's Dave Fanning, Larry Mullen revealed that U2 are hoping to "have something released by September".

Larry Mullen with RTÉ 2fm's Dave Fanning

Speaking about U2's first album since No Line on the Horizon four years ago, he said: "I'd say we will be finished by the summer - and hopefully we will have something released by September.Hopefully what we will be able to do is release September this year and shortly afterwards, release again. That's what we want to do.We are working with [producer] Brian Barton at the moment of Dangermouse, no will.i.am is not there, just Mister Mouse! We have been working for the last couple of years mostly in Ireland which has been great, we have been here for a long period of time. There's lots of music which is great."

Mullen also spoke about own personal projects, outside of being the drummer of one of the world's biggest bands: "I have spent 30 years sitting behind something...looking at men's arses!

"I've enjoyed it and it's been great but I looked at Bono and Edge in particular when he went to Broadway, I kind of felt you know I'm not punching high enough.

"I need to actually move out of this place and actually do other things, and have different conversations and sit at different tables, because everybody else was, except me."

Mullen also spoke to Fanning about how he embarked on an acting career. In 2011 he filmed the remake of Man on a Train alongside Donald Sutherland, which will be screened in the IFI tomorrow night, Friday, January 11.

He said: "I just took the ball and ran with it.

"I met Donald Sutherland the day before and at 6am the next morning and there we were doing it.

"Failure wasn't an option."

On working the legendary actor, Sutherland, he said: "You are standing there and this is the guy from Don't Look [Now], Klute and Mash. I just threw myself into it"

Mullen will also appear alongside Maria Doyle Kennedy in the new film A Thousand Times Good Night and he also has a wish list of directors he would like to work with: "When I see the Coen Brothers films, and I don't say this in an arrogant way, but I always think I know I could work with these guys, I know they'd get me, they do something that I really like.

"I'd love to work with Danny Boyle and I'd love to work with Quentin Tarantino but that's a pretty high aspiration but that's what I'd like to do."
