Bono urges Donald Trump to prioritise gender equality

Bono has urged US president-elect Donald Trump to make gender equality "a priority" as the U2 singer was honoured at Glamour's Women of the Year awards.

The Irish musician received the magazine's first Man of the Year award at the star-studded ceremony in Los Angeles.

On stage, Bono said: "I know how ridiculous it is for me to be on this stage accepting this award. B ut if I didn't know how ridiculous it was, I did have the blessed internet to remind me.

"As my daughter Jordan says, there is nowhere on earth where women have the same opportunities as men.

"Unless we address this problem, both men and women together, the world will continue down this misogynistic, violent and impoverished path.

"I say to the president-elect: look across to women, make equality a priority, it is the only way forward.

"The train is leaving the station, be on it or be under it."

Bono joined International Monetary Fund (IMF) chief Christine Lagarde, singer Gwen Stefani and Olympic gymnast Simone Biles on the list of winners.

He was recognised after his One campaign launched a "Poverty is Sexist" movement last year.

In a letter to world leaders, Bono and a host of celebrities including Sir Elton John, Robert Redford and Oprah Winfrey called it an outrage that girls account for 74% of all new HIV infections among adolescents in Africa.

At the awards ceremony, actress Amber Heard read the victim impact statement of the survivor of the Stanford sexual assault case, known only as Emily Doe.

The poignant letter went viral earlier this year amid criticism of the six-month sentence handed to former Olympic swimming hopeful Brock Turner for sexually assaulting an unconscious woman at the US university campus. He was released in September after serving half of his term.

Heard, whose high-profile divorce battle with Johnny Depp involved allegations of domestic abuse, joined fellow actresses Gabourey Sidibe and Freida Pinto on stage to read the letter.

Addressing Emily Doe, Heard said: "Wherever you are, we know you are listening. Thank you for your words. Thank you for your courage. We carry it with us every day."

Lena Dunham, the creator of comedy television series Girls, fought back tears as she spoke about the Stanford case and described being a victim of sexual assault herself.

She said: "When I was assaulted I lived with guilt that I had been out, wasted in a party dress, and feared I was as inconsequential as I had been made to feel when I woke up on the floor.

"Emily's statement was a gift to survivors like me, one we will work very hard to repay through our honesty and our actions. Thank you Emily."

Lagarde, managing director of the IMF, received a lifetime achievement award at the ceremony at NeueHouse Hollywood.

Accepting the honour, she said: "Receiving a life achievement (award) is probably something close to being almost buried. I was a bit concerned about this award tonight, but I'm extremely proud to receive it.

"No matter what sorrow, sadness and frustration we feel, we have the fight. We have to grit our teeth and smile as my old national synchronised swimming team used to say to us.

"What I hope is all the young girls, all the girls to be born, will be empowered to be leaders in finance, leaders in politics and leaders in anything they choose to accomplish, and will be free and not the victim of any discrimination."

Other award winners included fashion designer Miuccia Prada, IS kidnap survivor Nadia Murad, Black Lives Matter activists Patrisse Cullors, Alicia Garza and Opal Tometi, model and body activist Ashley Graham and actress and campaigner Zendaya.

Eve Hewson is making waves in Hollywood, but there was nothing showbiz about growing up with the U2 legend (By Patricia Danaher)

The name Bono brings several images to mind: there's the rockstar strutting across a stage, the bemused artist defending the automatic download of his album on to iPhones, or the political activist paying his last respects to his late friend Nelson Mandela. One image that Paul Hewson's famous moniker certainly wouldn't suggest is that of a dad in a dressing gown embarrassing his children on the school run - but according to his actress daughter, that's exactly what the real Bono is like.

"Like any dad, he would do things that were really annoying," Eve Hewson tells me with a groan. "He used to blast The Backstreet Boys in his car in traffic on the way to school and then get out in his dressing gown and dance with his glasses on. We were just mortified. But now I think he's a really fun dad. We tease him all the time, but he teases us back too!"

Venerated superstar he may be, but 24-year-old Eve says that she and her siblings - sister Jordan (26) and brothers Elijah (16) and John (14) - are not afraid to share their opinions with Bono.

"My sisters and my brothers are like micro managers with my dad and we don't shy away from telling him what we think," she tells me, grinning affectionately.

"We like to tell him what to wear and what to listen to and things like 'that shot's not good' and 'this verse isn't good'. We are very involved.

"He used to drive us to school and we would play whatever songs they were working on at the time. Like I say, we would be very involved and then upset if the version we liked didn't make it on the album. There would be a fight and we'd be like: 'Why, dad, why? You have to listen to us!'"

Today, we meet at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York. Eve - full name Memphis Eve Sunny Day Hewson - arrived early for our interview and, refreshingly, not surrounded by a massive entourage. She's here to talk about her acting roles - Eve can currently be seen starring opposite Clive Owen on television and Tom Hanks on cinema screens - but she is very at ease when asked to talk about her family.

She said recently that her upbringing was very down to earth and that the Hewson children "didn't grow up caring about the flashy things; my parents are not very sceney". Instead, she tells me, Bono and wife Ali involved their children in their business and charitable endeavours.

"Both of my parents were good about involving us in whatever they were doing and we were definitely around when One (Bono's campaigning organisation to fight global poverty) and Edun (the ethical clothing line founded by Ali) started. That's been great in helping me develop my taste and opinions."

When it comes to music, Eve says that she has cultivated her own tastes. She admits to being a terrible singer herself, albeit one who's not shy of a spot of karaoke.

"I love great pop music. I have a Nano iPod and my iPhone and I'm listening a lot to 5th Harmony [a girl group who came out of American X Factor]. They are the best. I also have some bad hip hop music and I love this young new artist Tori Kelly, who is really good."

Eve has no problem admitting how much of a U2 fan she is, and she's still smarting at the hostile response to their last album, which received a huge backlash after it was released by automatic download to every Apple iTunes account. Bono later apologised to those who felt that the automatic download was intrusive.

"I've heard every U2 song literally hundreds of times and been at so many concerts, but I was still really looking forward to going to their concerts in Dublin last week," Eve says.

"Songs of Innocence is in my iPod too. I love that album and I am so proud of my dad. I listened to probably 700 versions of Every Breaking Wave - that song started about eight years ago and it was almost on another album. I would probably say that this was the most personal album my dad has written and I was disappointed with the way people received it. That was really unfortunate because I feel it took away from how incredible the album really is.

"They wanted to go back to the roots of what inspired them as musicians and it really is very emotional. We all cry when they play it on tour because it's about my dad's mum who passed away when he was 14, and who we've heard so much about, but we have never met.

"He doesn't really talk about her that much, but he put a lot of his memories of her in those songs. I am really proud he went there and sort of looked back on his childhood."

Visibly moved at talking about her father's connection to his past, Eve tells me a touching story of something she and her siblings recently did for him.

"We actually went to his old house, 10 Cedarwood Road, which he sings about on the album, last Christmas as a surprise. My sister and my brother and myself knocked on the door and we asked if we could come in and take pictures in his old bedroom, as a gift for him.

"So that's what we did, a little photoshoot with his best friend Gavin Friday, who grew up on the road with him. He came and showed us where they used to hang out and it was funny, when we got out of the car, Every Breaking Wave started playing on the radio!

"We filmed my brother walking down the street with Gavin. He's my godfather and he came into the house with us and we took pictures in the kitchen, in the bathroom and in dad's bedroom. Then we took a picture of the four of us outside of 10 Cedarwood Road and blew it up for him for Christmas. He wept when he saw it.

"We also showed him the video of us going there. That was a really nice moment."

The Hewson children later did the same thing for their mother. No doubt the photos are treasured souvenirs of home for the couple when they are in New York. Eve told in a recent interview how when she moved to the city to study at the prestigious Tisch School of the Arts six years ago, her parents also took their leave of their home in Killiney.

"I didn't invite them, they just came," she said. "My sister had moved here a year earlier, to study at Columbia, and I don't think my mum could cope with losing two kids to the US. So they conveniently decided to renovate the house and had to be out of it for a year."

Bono, Ali (below with Eve) and the boys spent the year in the penthouse overlooking Central Park that they bought from Steve Jobs, while Eve shared a student dorm near to her college. She says her parents were not initially crazy about her choosing to become an actress, but now they are her number one fans. And with good cause.

Having landed early roles opposite Sean Penn and James Gandolfini, Eve is currently starring in the second season of the hit TV series The Knick. The series is set in 1900 at New York's Knickerbocker Hospital and in it Eve plays Lucy Elkins, a wide-eyed nurse in thrall to Clive Owens' drug-addicted surgeon. The role led to Eve's first on-screen sex scene, something which she has said was a scary prospect but "then we did it, and I realised it's not a big deal at all - It looks real, but that's nothing like what is actually going on."

Eve also plays Tom Hanks' teenage daughter in Steven Spielberg's Cold War thriller Bridge of Spies, currently in cinemas. Recently, it was announced that she's to play Maid Marion in Robin Hood: Origins, which is due for release in 2017.

Despite her rising Hollywood profile, she says that she hasn't considered moving to Los Angeles and is very happy to call New York home for now.

"I live in Brooklyn and all of my friends have moved from Dublin to New York, so we all live together in the Greenpoint/Williamsburg area.

"I have a tiny apartment and it's filled with pictures and paintings from flea markets and Playbills and Polaroids from my friends. It's like a little commune and everybody lives two blocks away from each other, so it's nice.

"I am close to my older sister Jordan and she lives a few blocks away from me with my best friend from home. My parents work in New York a lot, so they are always in and out."

Eve dated One Tree Hill star James Lafferty for four years, but they broke up a few months ago. She was since rumoured to be seeing fellow actor Max Minghella, but says she's single. Head-turningly pretty, today she is wearing wide striped trousers and a sleeveless shirt from Misha Nonoo. However, she reveals that, without a stylist, she's much more of a tomboy.

"I am a terrible shopper and I am the kind of person who goes into a full sweat in the closet in the changing room. I love clothes and I love fashion, but for some reason, shopping stresses me out. I can never seem to find anything that fits right or looks good.

"My friends are also more tomboys than fashionistas, so they're not big shoppers either. I go shopping with my mom and she's the best with that sort of stuff."

So what is in store for Bono's movie star daughter when she comes home to Ireland this Christmas? By Eve's description, the Hewson's Christmas sounds very like that in any other Irish household. Well, other than her dad's busking on Dublin's Grafton Street on Christmas Eve, that is. Let's hope he wears more than a dressing gown.

"Christmas in our house is like a three-day event with all sorts of rituals. On Christmas Eve we all have lunch in town and we go and do a bit of Christmas shopping. My dad sings on Grafton Street and does his busking thing. Then on Christmas Day, we go to Church and then our relatives come over and we have a big six-hour lunch/dinner and we all play games and hang out with our cousins.

"Then the next day, we do that most Irish of rituals on St Stephen's Day - we all go off to the horse races. I can't wait."

York nurse in this month’s Cinemax miniseries The Knick, Irish actress 
Eve Hewson practiced an American accent, brushed up on early-20th-century medicine (the show is set in 1900), and even bought a nurse-
training DVD. But there was still one major hurdle: her fear of needles 
and blood. “I’m a huge fainter,” she 
says. “I went with my mom to get a blood test, and I was like, ‘Oh, my God, oh, my God, oh, my God!’ My mom 
said, ‘Eve, you’re about to play a nurse. Get your shit together!’ ” And that 
she did. In the first episode, Hewson attempts to resuscitate a newborn 
and injects a man below the belt. Directed by Steven Soderbergh, The Knick follows the staff of a flailing hospital, including a curmudgeonly surgeon (Clive Owen) and the enterprising head of its social-welfare office (Juliet Rylance). Hewson plays Lucy, a bright-eyed, eager transplant from 
West Virginia. “I walked on to the set and thought, Is this actually happening?” 
says the 23-year-old, who is the daughter 
of the rock star Bono and the activist fashion entrepreneur Ali Hewson, and who spent much of her childhood touring with U2. “My dad wants to be an actor now,” she says with a smirk. “He’s like, ‘What do you think of me being in a movie with Beyoncé?’ And I said, ‘Stick to 
your day job!’

Eve Hewson joins Clive Owen in Soderbergh drama

ACTRESS Eve Hewson’s star status in Hollywood seems to be going in only one direction – sky high.

The 21-year-old daughter of U2 frontman Bono is set to add another string to her career bow, by working alongside British actor Clive Owen in Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh's new production, ‘The Knick’.

The 10-part series for Cinemax, will see Eve play the character of Lucy, described as "a young, naive nurse from the South" who comes to New York for adventure.

The drama will be set in New York's Knickerbocker Hospital in 1900, as staff strive to break new ground in medicine.

Also featuring on the cast list to appear opposite Eve, who enjoyed her first breakthrough role on the silver screen with Sean Penn in ‘This Must Be The Place’, are Michael Angarano, Andre Holland and Juliet Rylance.

The Steven Soderbergh-series for Cinemax is expected to debut sometime next year.

THE youngest daughter of U2 frontman Bono has told how her father's fame can bring out the worst in people when they find out her connection to the global superstar.

The 21-year-old actress Eve Hewson, who is studying acting at New York City University, said she is rarely recognised.

But the student told 'Flaunt' magazine she can instantly recognise the people who want to be friends with her in college because of her rock star father.

"It's made it, in some ways, easier to find friends because it brings out certain bad things in people," she said. "Then you can see easier. Well, you can smell the desperation in people."

For most of her life she has been kept out of the limelight by her parents but her roles in a string of high-profile films are turning the dark-haired beauty into a budding film star.

But she said her father's status as the frontman of the world's biggest band rarely encroached on her happy, sheltered childhood in southside Dublin.

"Obviously, every now and then someone would start singing a U2 song at a party but, aside from that, it's not really about who you are, what you have.

"It's just like, how you can hang out, if you can tell a good story, if you can make a good laugh."

Her performance alongside Hollywood star Sean Penn in the film 'This Must Be The Place' has already caused a buzz around the young actress.

She plays the surrogate daughter to Penn's depressed rock star. She said she wasn't recognised much while making the film. "Nobody really cares about me. There are other famous actors on set that are more fascinating."

The actress, who has an older sister Jordan (23) and two younger brothers Elijah (14) and John Abraham (11), has recently finished the movie 'Blood Ties'.

It stars a string of Hollywood heavy-hitters including Clive Owen, Billy Crudup, legend James Caan and Oscar-winner Marion Cotillard.

The young actress lists edgy star Juliette Lewis and Evan Rachel Woods as big influences.

"I think you have to be very forward about what you want. You have to be confident that you have a vision and that you want to play different sides of yourself. I think the crazier and weirder you are you will be able to get there."

She also said she really admires actress Frances McDormand for picking kooky roles.

"I love Frances for that. It's so cool. And Catherine Keener, who I am working with right now – she is the kind of cool chick that doesn't play into any of the bull***t."

U2 frontman Bono may be one of the world's highest-profile musicians, but you wouldn't know it from the low profile his family tends to take. Case in point: The rocker's 21-year-old daughter, Eve Hewson, who's been building an acting career in an understated, non-splashy fashion. Not too many people are familiar with Hewson's stunning looks--have you seen her before?

The beautiful blue-eyed brunette--the second-oldest of Bono and wife Ali Hewson's four children--stunned onlookers in New York at a screening of her new film, This Must Be The Place, which co-stars Sean Penn and Frances McDormand.

The movie competed at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival and will go into limited release domestically on November 2. Hewson plays the teenaged Mary, a friend to Penn's portrayal of an aging Dublin rock star seeking revenge for his father's torment at the hands of a Nazi guard.

The Irish-born Hewson, who lives in Brooklyn, made her feature-length acting debut in the 2008 drama The 27 Club. She also features prominently in Irish band the Script's music video "For The First Time."

Bono unveiled an unusual duet for his daughter Eve’s 21st birthday in Las Vegas Saturday night. When family and friends — including music mogul Jimmy Iovine and his son, Justin — gathered at a private table by the DJ booth at 1Oak at the Mirage, the U2 frontman and proud dad slipped DJ Jus-Ske a CD of him and wife Ali Hewson singing Lady Gaga’s “Telephone” together. Bono introduced the track on the mike while giving his daughter a special happy-birthday greeting — two magnums of Dom Perignon champagne delivered to their table with an accompanying LED light show. Rapper Fabolous, who was in the house to perform at the club, gave Eve a shout-out and dedicated his performance to her. “Transformers” director Michael Bay, party boy Wilmer Valderrama and Laker star Kobe Bryant were also spotted at tables nearby. Before the bash began, Bono threw a dinner for Eve at Tao Las Vegas, where guests sat across the room from NBA champ LeBron James and Sands Resorts CEO Sheldon Adelson.

The previous day Bono attended The Beatles LOVE by Cirque du Soleil.

Irish Hospice Foundation

The website for the Irish Hospice Foundation crashed last night when Victoria Beckham tweeted a link to the charity after receiving a gift from Bono for baby Harper of a book he did in aid of the charity in 2003.

Victoria Beckham tweeted: “Thanks Bono and Ali for Harper's supercool Peter and the Wolf book!” The fashion designer then gave a link to the book cover and tweeted a link to the Irish Hospice Foundation website to her two and a half million Twitter followers. The Irish Hospice Foundation tweeted the designer “We hope you and David enjoy reading it to Harper.”

Caroline Lynch of the Irish Hospice Foundation confirmed that after the fashion designer tweeted the link and it was retweeted on Twitter, the charity’s website crashed under the high volume of traffic from people trying to get onto the site and find out about the book. “The site went down from the number of people who were trying to get on and make enquiries.” she said.

The book produced in 2003 by Bono and Gavin Friday contains 64 pages of Bono's original paintings and illustrations from his daughters Jordan and Eve. Since 2003, Peter and the Wolf has raised €993,006 for the hospice foundation. The charity is hoping the Beckham tweet will help them to raise the additional €7000 needed to bring them over the €1 million mark.

Eve Hewson: A Star On Her Own Right

'Working with Sean Penn was a little scary!' Bono's daughter Eve Hewson on her critically-acclaimed new movie This Must Be The Place.

Nobody could accuse Eve Hewson of being a stranger to celebrity – not with U2’s Bono and Ali Hewson as her parents.

But the young actress has admitted to being starstruck –not to mention terrified –  at the prospect of working alongside Hollywood heavyweight Sean Penn in her latest film, This Must Be The Place.

Eve confessed: 'It was a little scary. I remember when I got the part, I watched all his movies. All of them, going back to Bad Boys. So I was trying to do my homework. 

'But when I met him, he was great. I think we had a good working relationship.'

Cast in the role of Mary – a young punk who befriends Penn’s eccentric rock star, Cheyenne, in the film – Eve said she couldn’t believe her luck at winning a place in the star-studded ensemble, which includes Academy Award winner, Frances McDormand and Ireland’s Olwen Fouere.

'I looked at the call sheet [a film’s daily shooting schedule] and my name was smack in the middle of Frances McDormand and Sean Penn and it was like, "How is this happening? This is unreal",' the 20-year-old Dubliner recalled.

'It was very intimidating. I saved the call sheet.'

As she lapped up the plaudits at the star-studded event in Park City, Utah, over the weekend, Eve said having a film featured at the prestigious festival was cause for celebration.

'I always wanted to go to Sundance. I came two years ago, just with friends, and we went to see some movies. And I thought, "God, I really want to have a movie here!" ' she said.

'I’m really proud of the film. It’s quirky and a little crazy and it’s funny and it’s sad.'

Previously cast in the independent film The 27 Club – a movie about rock stars dying young – as well the video for Dublin band The Script’s For The First Time, Eve seems to be making a speciality of rock-themed movies.

But she insists that Penn’s eccentric character in This Must Be The Place bears no resemblance to her famous father.

Eve is the first of the U2 rocker’s children to make a bid for the spotlight in her own right – and mother Ali has said she wished the youngster had chosen a different career.

Her father is a world-saving rock-star and her mother is a high-profile activist, but up until recently, nobody knew much about 19-year-old Eve Hewson. The second child of Bono and Ali Hewson has, for most of her life, been kept out of the limelight. But on her 18th birthday last July, Bono brought a suitably embarrassed looking Eve on stage at a U2 show to the strains of the band's song ‘Party Girl' — although there wasn't much evidence of her having partied.


Unlike the children of other Irish rock stars, her life has not been a catalogue of high-profile follies or media intrusion. Instead, Eve went trouble-free from St Andrew's in Blackrock to college in NYU, splitting her time between the family's homes in New York and Dublin.


Then things changed. She had a much-documented, short-lived, relationship with James Lafferty, the American star of One Tree Hill (a programme named after a U2 song), a high-profile film role in the forthcoming This Must be the Place, in which Sean Penn plays an addled rock star, and made a highly publicised appearance at the Cannes film festival.


Irish viewers will have to wait until later in the year to judge her performance in This Must be the Place, but American director Charles Mehling certainly thinks that she has talent.


Although, when he was searching for an Irish actress in New York to star in the music video he was making for The Script, he never imagined that he'd eventually be casting a rock star's daughter.


“We didn't think it would be so hard to find a young Irish actress in New York,” he says.


“And we were at the point of considering an American actor with an Irish accent, which is an abominable idea — there's nothing worse than a fake New York-style Irish accent.”


But then Robbie Ryan, Mehling's Irish director of photography, saw a tiny news story in an Irish paper: “Bono's daughter to star alongside Sean Penn.”


Calls were made, feelers were put out, and before he knew it, Mehling was sitting in a New York café across from Eve Hewson, formerly Memphis Eve Hewson, “a beautiful, classically Irish-looking actress who was coolly enthusiastic about everything — the perfect co-conspirator. She just happened to be Bono's daughter.”


The resulting music video can be found online, as can a lovely 12-minute spin-off film featuring Hewson as a believably homesick economic migrant living anonymously in New York.


Hewson herself is hardly likely to be forced abroad for work, but she has been beavering away at her craft for some time.


As far back as 2005, she and her sister Jordan appeared in Lost and Found, directed by Erica Dunton, and produced, uncredited, by Bono. Indeed, possibly in the interests of deflecting unwanted media attention, Eve and Jordan are listed in the credits as ‘Brenda M Stankard’ and ‘Paddy M Stankard’. But Eve wasn't to remain uncredited for long.


Dunton, herself the daughter of a successful father (respected cameraman Joe Dunton), knew she'd found a star. “I was so impressed that I cast her as a lead in The 27 Club,” she told me.


Filmed two years after Lost and Found, The 27 Club was the tale of a grieving, drug-addled rock-star who goes on a trans-American road trip. Hewson stars as a young Irish hitch-hiker who joins him on the road (she seems to specialise in playing foils for burned-out rockers).


Shot while Eve was still in school, and debuting in Tribeca in April 2008, it was a low-budget, low-profile feature debut, but many were suitably impressed.


“Eve Hewson is a natural beauty inside and out,” says Dunton.


“Her raw talent radiates the moment she's on screen. Her instinctive gift to connect to and take care of her characters is clear in all her performances.


“She is an old soul and she has learned to channel her organic empathy so that I, as the director, get to work with it and the audience, as the emotional viewers, gets to enjoy it. I am very much looking forward to working with her again.”


Hewson seems to have had good fun on the set of that movie (there is a series of YouTube videos featuring her goofing about with her co-stars David Emrich and Joe Anderson).


Then, the same summer, she took part in an acting programme at the New York Film Academy, a well-respected institution that prides itself on tutoring the children of celebrities. Another quirky short film ensued, Jorma's Blind Date, directed by another Film Academy alumnus, Jon Seidemann, and crediting a misspelled Eve Hewston.


And that was as far as Eve Hewson's public profile went until the past year, when she began to be photographed alongside her dashing US boyfriend (that relationship is now at an end), featured in the Sean Penn film and appeared in Charles Mehring's Script video and short film. Back in the summer of 2010, she was juggling both projects in the sweltering New York heat.


“There was no special security or paper work or legal release forms or entourage — it was like working with any young actress,” recalls Mehling. “Maybe it's an Irish thing, but she was really relaxed and disarming. She's reserved, but not guarded.


“She's not spewing with bombastic charisma, but she seems very serious about what she does. She seemed like a New Yorker, she knew the New York vibe very well.


“Her dad was only mentioned a couple of times in passing so I got the sense ."It was neither a sore subject nor a subject that defines her."

Eve Hewson Co-Stars Movie with Sean Penn

 Eve Hewson(a.k.a.Bono´s daughter) has landed a co-starring role opposite Sean Penn in the Paolo Sorrentino-helmed indie "This Must Be the Place."

Story centers on an aging rock star (Penn) who becomes fixated on pursuing the Nazi criminal who tormented his father in a concentration camp. Hewson will play a gothic-punk music fan who is close friends with Penn's character. Frances McDormand also co-stars.

Indigo Film's Nicola Giuliano and Lucky Red's Andrea Occhipinti are producing the film, which was penned by Sorrentino and Umberto Contarello.

ARP Selection and the Ireland-based Element Film are co-producing, Medusa and Banca Intesa are co-financing and Pathe is on board as the world sales company. The film will begin lensing in Ireland and the United States this month.

Hewson most recently starred in the indie drama "The 27 Club."
